Alpamayo Climbing

   

1 Day: Huaraz - Cashapampa - Llamacorral

We will leave Huaraz around 7 am, so breakfast will be at 6am, passengers will be transferred to the trail head Cashapampa 2900masl, where we will meet our donkey drivers, then we will start hiking by narrow valley, we will go up for about 2 hours, then we will have lunch down the tree’s shadow, then we will start going up moderate almost flat area to the first camp Place Llamacorral at 3800masl. Overnight camping

2 Day: Llamacoral - Base Camp Alpamayo

Today we will hike along the valley moderate enjoying the beautiful lakes called Ichicocha and Jatuncocha, turquoise lakes, then we will arrive to nice spot where will have lunch at the place called Quisuar, then after it we will go up to the Alpamayo south base camp, we will get here early and prepare and check our climbing gears for the next day, overnight at 4300masl.

3 Day: Base Camp - Camp 1 Alpamayo

After breakfast, We will climb the moraine rocky trail to get the glacier, We will walk the rocky area for about 3 hours, then we will get the glacier at 5000masl, then we will start using our climbing gear, and start climbing for about 2 hours and half, to get the col, at 5600 masl, then for a half hour we have to go down to the high camp 1 at 5400 masl, camp in the glacier.

4 Day: Camp 1 - Summit 5947m - Camp 1 Alpamayo

Today the breakfast will be at 2 or 3 am in the morning, and we will start climbing using head lamps, and after 1 hour aprox walking in the snow we will get the base of the wall (Ferrari route) the inclination is aprox 75º, then we will start climbing the wall, and after 2 or 3 hours climbing we will succeed the summit, where we will have impressionist white mountain peaks. And after to enjoy for a few minutes we will come dawn rappelling with the help of our guide, arriving to the camp place at 11 or 12 am and just for lunch, and rest in the afternoon, overnight in the glacier at 5400masl

5 Day: Camp 1 - Base Camp Alpamayo

After the breakfas in the glacier, we will take the same route to go back to the Base Camp, Arriving at 3pm aprox. And camp at 4300 in the base camp

6 Day: Base Camp Alpamayo - Cashapampa

Today we will come back walking down hill along the Santa Cruz valley, until Cashapampa, then after hard days climbing we will need relax, so we will go to Huancarhuaz Hot Springs, then in the afternoon we will come back to camp in Cashapampa and overnight at 2950masl

7 Day: Cashapampa - Huaraz

After the last breakfast in the camp we will aboard the bus to go direct to Huaraz arriving at 1pm aprox for Lunch and overnight at Hotel Huaraz

8 Day: Free day or Reserve day

one day climbers will spect as reserve day in case of bad weather or helt problems

  • Backpack,

  • Rain jacket or poncho (plastic ponchos can be purchased in Huaraz for a few dollars)
  • Water bottle, ideally non disposable canteen (boiled drinking water will be provided)
  • Torch / Flashlight and batteries
  • Sun block (sun protection cream)
  • Insect repellent, absolutely the most important item for this hike is bug spray. Anything with a lot of DEET with do the job, anything less is simply not sufficient. Bug spray MUST be bought in Huaraz, as it cannot be found even in neighboring towns.
  • Selection of small snacks, chocolate, dried fruit, biscuits, energy bars etc,
  • Camera, plenty of film and spare batteries, cash in soles and US$
  • Swimsuit (if you plan on visiting the hot springs at Hunacarhuaz after the Climbing days)
  • You also need to bring a copy of your passport on the trail.

Reservation details: All trek or climbing reservations must be made reservation in advance (however 30 days in advance is recommended especially during the months of April, May, June, July and August)

Payment details: We will require a non-refundable trek deposit of 50% per person payable at the time of Reservation and we will confirm you by e-mail or phone confirming your trek booking. The deposit could be paid by Our VISA Payment On-Line, Western Union or money transfer to our Peruvian Bank account and these are our fastest most secure form of payments in Peru. Further details of how to send the deposit are included with our trek booking confirmation email. The remaining balance is to be paid in Huaraz one day prior to your trek departure date. Payment can be made in cash US$, local currency (Peruvian Soles),
For a trek deposit Payment we use BANCO DE CREDITO DEL PERU, please if you are ready to make reservation inform as son as possible to send you our bank account number

Luggage storage. When you go on the trek it is best to leave any luggage that you are not going to need behind in Huaraz. Nearly all the hotels in Huaraz provide secure luggage deposit. Put any valuables in their safe. Very rarely do hotels charge for this service especially if you are returning to the same hotel after the trek. If there are any problems with your hotel we can arrange to store your luggage at our office.
Time of arrival in Huaraz you will return to your hotel in Huaraz for approximately 4:30pm on the last day of the trek
